Guest Blog: BoxUnion Master Coach Kyle Shares His Morning Routine

Hey, Orgain Fam! Master Coach Kyle here from BoxUnion in Los Angeles, CA to give you a little insight into how I start each of my days.

As a former coach of mine, David Meltzer, Co-Founder of Sports 1 Marketing, taught me, “You only get one action each day, and that’s the first action you take each morning. Everything after that is just a reaction…” Simply put, how you start off your morning will determine how the rest of your day goes.

For me, my morning routine actually starts on Sunday night, where I schedule in time for my routine each day for the upcoming week.

I’m a morning person, so I’m up at 5:15am every day throughout the week. As you can see, my morning routine lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes until around 6:30am.

I’ll kick off the details of my morning routine with my best and quickest advice to change your life, and that’s to say ‘Thank you’ right when you wake up each morning and right before you go to bed each night. I learned this strategy from my role model, Tony Robbins, who preaches, “Gratitude is the greatest tool to transform your life.” So, I’ve trained myself to say, “Thank you, Universe” and smile wide the instant my eyes open each morning. As a result, my mind, body and spirit are immediately transcended to a place of abundance that lasts all day long.

Next, my girlfriend and I have two French Bulldogs that demand my attention as soon as I hop out of bed. Before I get into the rest of my routine, taking them for a quick walk around the block and watching them scarf down their food has to happen.

As soon as they’re taken care of, I hydrate with 14oz of water, a half lemon squeeze and a pinch of sea salt. Then I’m off to take a 3-5 minute cold shower, which I despise doing every morning; yet, I know how important it is in not only warding off inflammation and improving immunity, but also in building a resilient mind that is conditioned to do things that I don’t want to do throughout the rest of my day.

Afterwards, I find a comfortable spot in our apartment (different each day depending on how I’m feeling) to meditate for 15-20 minutes and tap into whatever I need to pull out for the day. The deeper we go, the more we grow!

I highly recommend playing this video with some headphones on when meditating in the morning!

From there, I round out my morning routine with coffee and 15-25 minutes of reading time to kick my brain into overdrive before getting ready for class. I’m currently reading Limitless by Jim Kwik, an amazing book to help you learn anything faster and unlock your exceptional life. Remember, leaders are readers!

As soon as it hits 6:30am, it’s time to put my playlist and workout together for either my 8am Shadowbox Signature or Bag Signature Class on our new BoxUnion Digital platform. If you haven’t checked us out yet, click this link and enter the promo code STAYSTRONG to receive a free no commitment 14-day trial and your first two months for just $20. We’re not just about building better boxers, we’re about building better people!

Once 7:30am rolls around, I walk over to the studio to prepare and loosen up for class. Then, when 8am hits it’s lights, camera, action. After 45 minutes of boxing to the beat, I grab my Orgain Sport Recovery Lemonade powder, add it to 16 oz. of water and drink up.

Finally, when I get home, I’m ready to eat! I mix up some:

Top it off with some unsweetened coconut flakes, cashews and walnuts…

The way I’d like to leave off is letting you know that your morning routine doesn’t have to be my morning routine – what works for me may not work for you, and vice versa. However, establishing some type of rhythm each morning will propel you on a path to success that will compound each and every day. Once again, you only get one action each day, and that’s the first action you take each day. Everything after that is just a reaction…

How are you going to start your day tomorrow?
