We all know that taking extra care to wash hands and getting your flu shot are tried and true methods to stay healthy during flu season, but sometimes that just isn’t enough and we still get pummeled. Here are some additional ways to keep your immune system performing and the bugs at bay.
Sleep
Flu season might be the most important time to get quality sleep. If you are drained and your body and brain are not properly rested, your immune system will be weaker — making you more susceptible to illnesses like the flu or the common cold. Get after those 8 hours of sleep to keep your immune system running at its best. While getting enough sleep can be a lot easier said than done, especially during the holidays, there are a few things you can do to get the most out of bedtime.- Be proactive.
- Wind down.
- Don’t eat after 8 PM.
