Working out

Now that the weather is warming up it’s about time we take our workouts outside. Whether you’re a runner, yogi, or into HIIT workouts try taking your normal routine outside. Studies show taking your workout outside can not only boost your mood, but also motivate you to push yourself harder and keep going longer. Runners, now is your time! You no longer have to endure the frigid air or the redundancy of a treadmill. Make your run your own and hit up favorite trails or take to the waterfront. Uphill sprints, distance, stair climbs, or whatever your next-level goals might be, use the natural world and try leaving the treadmill behind until next Winter. Give these 10 outdoor workouts a try and you’ll remember why you started running in the first place. Yogis, why not try looking for outdoor practice sessions or grab your laptop and take your favorite online guided lessons outside to your backyard or patio. Not only are you gaining that extra glow from all the Vitamin D you’ll be soaking up, but your lungs will feel fuller and rejuvenated after spending the past few months indoors. As for you ambitious folks who prefer high intensity workouts, try using your outdoor props. These 3 outdoor HIIT workouts are guaranteed to get you to your local park and utilizing park benches, jump ropes, even a medicine ball or two in no time.

Taking better care of your skin

Spring is finally here, but chances are your epidermis is still feeling the harshness of the Winter weather. Not to worry, you skin will be glowing and hydrated soon enough with a few updates to your daily routine. When coming out of your wintery hibernation and into the warmth of sunshine, you may need to adjust the daily skin care routine. Try grabbing a lightweight moisturizer that has sunscreen built right in. Not only are you saving your skin from dehydration, but also protecting those cheeks from possible UV damage. Studies show that including sunscreen or a 2-in-1 product such as moisturizer or foundation that has SPF protection into your daily routine throughout the year will help to seriously save your skin down the road. Many of us reach for the sunblock when we’re headed to the beach or relaxing poolside, but the truth is that rain or shine, you should still be protecting yourself from UVA and UVB rays.

Drinking more water

The average human body is made up of 50 to 78 percent water depending on your age and gender. Studies show that thirst, mental performance, and physical coordination starts to be affected when the body loses just 2% of its water. Isn’t that incredible?! So when you start feeling the heat, or just a little brain-fog, reach for a glass of water. Looking for more ways to stay cool when the warmer weather hits? Give these five daily tips a try.

Making more smoothies

It’s a great time to up your smoothie game! Smoothies are easily our favorite way to get your body (and mind) back on track after a long winter. Not only are they easy to throw together, but they’re the perfect substitute for breakfast when you’re trying to get out the door fast, or as a between meals snack. Give these three detox smoothie recipes from Healthy Grocery Girl a try. Now take a deep breath, remember and honor all of the great work you have done for your own wellbeing, and look forward to a full year of living your healthy, active life.
