Inside Orgain

Shake Hunger - 1 in 6 Children in the US is hungry. These are the 10 Needs at your local food bank that can help.

Here’s what we know: the world can produce enough food to feed everyone on Earth. So why are 12.9 million children in the U.S. food insecure? Why are 1 of every 9 people in the world hungry? WhyHunger is tackling these questions with real, actionable programs that address the root causes of hunger, and Orgain is supporting their efforts with the #ShakeHunger campaign. “WhyHunger is a leader in building the movement to end hunger and poverty by connecting people to nutritious, affordable food and by supporting grassroots solutions that inspire self-reliance and community empowerment.”

Here’s how Orgain is helping #ShakeHunger

For every Orgain Bananas & Cream Nutritional Shakes 18-pack purchased, we are donating $3 to WhyHunger. For every action taken on social media to help us share information about WhyHunger and their mission, we will donate an Orgain Nutritional Shake to the cause.

Here’s how you can help #ShakeHunger

Start locally! Your local food bank needs your donations. Unfortunately, not every donation that comes through their doors provides the nutrition needed to really tackle hunger, especially in young kids. Many products, while appreciated, tend to be heavily processed, high in sodium and provide a minimal amount of nutrition. Regularly-donated items like canned pastas, chips, sodas, and other highly processed foods may stave off the feeling of hunger in the short term, but aren’t providing those who are actually hungry with the nutrition they need to thrive and succeed. Food insecure kids are less likely to succeed in school or in the workforce, thereby perpetuating poverty and hunger. So how can we all support the needs of developing kids? More REAL FOOD. Here are the top ten nutrient-dense needs at your local food bank. Please consider supporting WhyHunger’s grassroots efforts to abolish hunger and join us in striving for a nourished, thriving community at home and abroad. Together we can #ShakeHunger!
