Refresh your smoothie routine

We all get bored with too much redundancy, and boredom can quickly eat away at your healthy habits. Is the same combination of blended fruits and vegetables leaving you wanting more? We feel you. If you are unsure on how to refresh your smoothie routine to combat your cravings while feeling full and energized, we’re here to help! Check out these tips on how to revamp your daily smoothie.

New ingredients and different consistency

Always buying the same frozen berries and greens at the supermarket for your smoothie? It can be hard to stray away from your norm, but we’ve got some new ingredients for you to try that will liven things up a bit. Maca root powder is a delicious and healthy addition to smoothies. One serving of maca root powder has more calcium than milk, 133% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin C, and is rich in copper and iron. Maca root powder will not only add a tasty nutty flavor to your smoothie, it will also give you an instant energy boost. If the same variation of protein powder isn’t exciting you anymore, switch up your flavors. This is an easy way to add character to your smoothies without having to pile your cart high in the produce aisle. Check out some of our favorite smoothie recipes for a good starting point. Craving the protein and energy boost a smoothie will give you, but sick of your same old texture? Sweet potato and cauliflower are thick and creamy ingredients to add to smoothies, plus they pack a bunch of bonus nutrition. Play around with ingredients to create both thicker or maybe even lighter, more refreshing smoothies. Or make a smoothie bowl or try creating a protein coffee drink! The possibilities really are endless.

Listen to your body and cravings

Listening to your body is super crucial to overall good health and wellbeing. Letting your body guide your meals and the flavors in them is a great way to ensure satisfaction. Stock your pantry with smoothie essentials and then try to make a smoothie every day with what you know will make you feel your best. Smoothie staples including some sort of leafy green or Superfoods powder, a few types of berries, frozen bananas, a nut butter, protein powder, and a liquid base of some kind (we love almond milk) are a great way to set the tone, and then have a little fun. Have you ever used brewed herbal tea as your liquid? Or are you adding turmeric, cinnamon, or other delicious anti-inflammatory spices? Part of renewing yourself is renewing your routine. Keep things fresh, and always stay picky about your protein.

Change it up

Drinking the same smoothie everyday is bound to get boring. Even though you might be super obsessed with a certain recipe right now, try alternating your smoothies throughout the week. Embrace change and stave off any bad decisions. Let’s be real: if you feeling blah about your smoothie, you’re way more likely to reach for a cookie instead. Kick the week off with a dense green smoothie, followed by a fruit smoothie, nut smoothie, protein smoothie, or a combination. This is a great way to ensure that you are getting a variety of necessary nutrients throughout the week, and not overdoing it on one recipe. Here is some smoothie recipe inspiration from us to you! If you’re incorporating smoothies into your daily or weekly routine, that’s already a great step in the right direction. Don’t be disappointed if your smoothies aren’t crazy beautiful or #instafamous. Focus more on how they make you feel. Play around with ingredients and portion sizes. What’s keeping you satiated? Where are your vitamins and nutrients coming from? Are you choosing high quality, preferably organic ingredients? Don’t be afraid to stray from your usual routine. Who knows? Your new favorite smoothie might still be out there!
