The chill breeze, the smell of apple cider, big, cozy sweaters–it’s here! As the temperatures drop and we reach for extra layers to keep ourselves warm, it can be tempting to go for the over-sugared hot treats, but there are some healthy AND delicious options out there.   Here’s a list of some of our favorite healthy warm beverages to enjoy this Fall.

Herbal Teas

Tea was made for Fall, right? Can you picture it? Sitting curled up by the window or a roaring fire with a book and a cuppa tea. It’s down right dreamy. Bonus: Your insta-worthy moment is health conscious as well. Herbal teas can offer a wealth of antioxidants, nutrients, and have a warming effect on the body. So it's no wonder that in the Fall and Winter months we reach for beverages like tea, to keep us from feeling the chilly effects of the change in seasons. The best part about herbal tea is that it can be enjoyed throughout the day. With herbs for nearly every occasion, whether you're looking for an aid in restful sleep, a caffeinated pick me up, or simply a detox, there's a blend for just about everything. Another major bonus is that herbal teas are a great vessel for your daily Orgain Collagen Peptides supplement.

Matcha Tea

Matcha love! Whether you enjoy it iced, in a foamy latte, or added to a morning smoothie, matcha offers a number of health benefits. According to Healthline because of the way matcha green tea is grown and produced it’s shown to contain a greater amount of caffeine, antioxidants, amino acids, and chlorophyll than  traditional green tea. This means that it may provide better focus, greater protection against free radicals, and enhance weight loss. Let’s not forget that the possibilities of preparation are also endless. Don’t believe us? We decided to add a bit of chocolate to really make it interesting! If you’re looking to try matcha for the first time but are worried about the bitterness or earthy taste, mix it with our plant based chocolate protein powder and you’ve got yourself a Chocolate Charged Matcha Latte, completely with a serving of protein!

Cozy Lattes

Ever tried a Cacao Latte? It’s essentially the superfoods version of hot cocoa. Rachel DeVaux, a certified personal trainer and registered dietitian, speaks to the health benefits of cacao seeds and shares why the magic seed is her favorite superfood. Hint: it’s because it’s chocolate. Raw cacao contains more antioxidants than blueberries, boosts serotonin levels, and helps to regulate blood pressure. So for those of you looking for a cozy afternoon treat, skip the store bought hot cocoa and head to the bulk section of the grocery store or your local health food store to pick up some raw, organic cacao powder. Blend with your favorite warmed nut milk, your choice of natural sweetener (we recommend a pitted date), and a spoonful of coconut oil for added creaminess. Blend and enjoy the chocolatey bliss.

Spiced Coffee

Looking to take your morning coffee and kick it up a notch? This may be our favorite Spiced Coffee recipe yet! The Hungry Traveler’s Moroccan Spice Coffee recipe includes a number of beneficial spices and herbs including cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and clove. Each of these herbs not only adds to the flavor of traditional coffee, but the health benefits as well. From antioxidants to anti-inflammatory properties, the handful of traditional spices is shown to improve immunity, fight off free radicals and even balance blood levels. And that’s all before the sun rises! The health benefits of coffee alone are enough to have us reaching for a cup of our favorite organic roast in the morning, but by adding some of your favorite traditional herbs and spices you may be improving your health without even knowing it. So sip on something warm, frothy, or a little bit spicy this Fall and keep your body on track all the way through the holiday.
